“If you don't choose the road you're gonna walk, sooner or later someone else will do that choosing for you.” This one sentence made Piper, in the book called The Girl Who Could Fly, realize there’s still hope somewhere out there and got her moving ahead. Piper McCloud was an adventurous girl born in the Lowland Country. She was the late-in-life, only child of Betty and Joe McCloud, farmers who believed in doing things the way they have always been done and tolerating no deviance when it occurred. Piper, however, is one massive deviation from the norm. Not only do women not give birth at Betty's age, but Piper seemed to be unusually rambunctious. A bit into the story, Piper leaves her parents and her life is changed forever. The only question is, is it going to be changed in a good or a bad way? The book The Girl Who Could Fly is a great book to read because it covers the concept of friendship and to always stand up for what you think is right. The Girl Who Could Fly does a great job by giving the message about the importance of friendship, and that you should always stand up for yourself and do what you think is right. It shows how friends can help you and are necessary in your life. After our main character, Piper, was sent to a school for children with super powers, she realizes that the school isn’t a good place. She starts planning to run away but it’s not that easy to do that. She meets with some new people there and they agree on helping each other out. Without the help of everyone they couldn’t have done anything and would’ve been captured there for the rest of their lives and not be able to do anything.
