The book The Outsiders is about a gang who protects each other. They have to deal with many loses and hardships. I liked this book because it showed a group of friends and family, working together to try to be higher than the other gangs, and it showed how close people who are in the same group can get. A character I like is Soda. He protected the whole group, and stood up for them. He worked hard to earn money for his family, while he was going through a heartbreak. Soda is strong and especially since he had to get over his Mom and Dads deaths. When Darry would get onto Pony about things, he was always there for Pony to back him up. I also liked Dally.
