What did you like about this script?

I really liked the opening montage in this script. It was detailed, clean and it kept the narrative moving. I really liked that the script immediately pulls you into Trevor’s world as this pivotal moment in his life with his band.

The subtle reactions from each of the band members during their interview at the Grammys tells just enough about their characters without it being outlandish or over embellished.

Likewise, the heavy tension build-up between Alex and Trevor through out the script was fantastic. For example, the boiling point between them just after Liz’s funeral on page 51 virtually crackles off of the page.

The writer does a great job peeling away each layer of the story and I enjoyed the way in which Liz’s plot line continued to evolve after her death. It is clear that the writer took great care with the details and complexity of this topic. …show more content…

Rivas was probably my favorite character because of his mentor-like connection to Trevor and his willingness to protect the soldiers in his squad.

The narrative techniques I liked the most in this script were the visions of his father that Trevor has. For example, on page 52 after Liz’s funeral emulates Trevor’s internal struggle with his belief in his discussion to enlist. It is clear that Trevor’s father, Don, still plays a huge role in how he lives his life, which is why I find Rivas’ character so fascinating.

Rivas gives Trevor a speech about his life in the Army, tells him about the good and the bad stuff, but he also leaves it up to Trevor to come to his own conclusion about moving forward.
