Character List 1. Lieutenant General Thomas Gage: He was known to be a very kind hearted man with good intentions. He had a family and a wife named Margaret Gage. He was a military commander and a royal governor of Massachusetts. In 1781, King George asked him to keep an eye on England’s defense. King George promotes Gage to general in 1782. Gage dies at the age of 68 in 1787. 2. Margaret Gage: Thomas Gage’s wife and stayed in England even when Gage had died ‘82. There is a conspiracy that she had been giving the Sons of Liberty information. She had died at the age of 90 in 1824. 3. Will Strahan: He is a very close friend to Franklin. However, they believe in two different opinions about the British. Strahan is committed and stays committed to England. He helps William Franklin out of jail. He becomes very ill and in conclusion becomes blind. He was planning on meeting with Franklin; however, things take a turn for the worst and he dies at the age of 76. 10. Major General Artemas Ward: In 1776, he left for resignation from the Continental Army. They did not argue with his decision. Washington says that Ward was walking away from his responsibilities. He moves on to become the militia commander in Boston but does not do anything with his position. He died at the age of 73 in 1800. 11. John Hancock: He had left a significant mark on people. His primary position at the time was the major general of militia. He was involved in the Continental Congress until 1777. He became the first governor of state of Massachusetts in 1780. Health was a key barrier in his “career.” The same year he is elected into the Continental Congress. Also in the same year, he is elected as the president and is in office for half a term. She wanted to bring change to the role of women. She wanted to have women receive more rights and have more of a say in their colony too. 18. Benjamin Franklin: He is an inventor and critical thinker. Franklin is involved deeply in the independence of America and the corrupt system the British run. He has a significant role in the independence of the colonies and the empowerment of the colonists. 19. George Washington: He has background experience in the French- Indian war.
