and she just wants her family to be safe. Sang Ly thinks of herself as just a poor mother in a waste dump while everyone else in the dump sees her as an affectionate mother who loves her family. At the end of the day, Sang Ly must live day by day just trying to learn to read, trying to cure her son's chronic illness and making sure everyone makes it so sun down. Sadie Grimes is smart and patient. The first reason is she is smart is that see knew there were 2 thousand dollars in the house because her son hid it and someone killed him for the money so she put her house up for sale to catch the guy who killed her son. She knew that the person who killed her son for the money would come back to get it.
Everyday, everybody makes decisions, some turn out great and others face harsh consequences. This was true for Lyddie Worthen who exists only in the mind of the author of the book Lyddie, Katherine Paterson. Lyddie is a young girl whose family is in some big debt, due to her father leaving to find riches. Her mother takes her sisters and sends Lyddie to a tavern and her brother to a mill. After a while at the tavern, she took an unauthorized vacation and got fired in the process.
A hero can be described in many ways from Superman’s example to teenager, Malala Yousafzai’s. Holden Caulfield, a 17 year old boy, who flunks out of school, in The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is said to follow the Hero’s Quest- that the novel is a modernization of this mythic from. Upon reading this novel, Holden does not seem like the type of person who would be a hero, however his journey overlaps with a traditional hero’s journey in more than one place. Holden’s heroic characteristics tells the reader that anyone can be a hero, in their own way, even with all of their teen angst. Holden follows the first two steps of a hero’s journey throughout the novel.
Characters Comparison/Contrast Essay Intro: Include one or more sentences summarizing each story and describing each character. Esperanza and house on mango street: Esperanza is a young girl who lives for a year on mango street and gradually grows into a mature young woman by a series of encounters and situations on her quest to learn more about female sexuality and later conclusion on rejecting sex as a form of escaping reality but rather focus on the importance of community and family. At the end of the book, Esperanza becomes a important figure for women’s help in her community and proves herself as an artist and writer through her analysis and observations through her writings.
Lastly, Sarny was unbroken, she learned to tolerate people, and she had the characteristic of understanding. In the novel the author states, “We each live in our own times...best we can”(p.92). Sarny believed that life will not always be fine, but the only we can to is to accept our time and live the best as we could. This shows that Sarny has tolerance to trouble, and the world’s evil. She understands that Miss Laura and herself have different lifestyles, different classes.
Truly, Miss Strangeworth thought that the town’s people were corrupt and evil, but throughout the story the evil was really Miss Strangeworth. Miss Strangeworth made unethical decisions that led to hurt feelings among the people in her town. Miss Strangeworth’s intentions were to protect the town’s people from evil while her external actions create her own type of evil. Miss Strangeworth corrupted the relationships of the other people in the town toward one another and towards her. Miss Strangeworth’s character was flat and unchanged throughout the story while it was the other people in town who grow and change.
Through the window, Sammy depicts Lengel as cold and hard as metal. as Sammy connects the “hardness” of Lengel’s appearance with the hardness that awaits him in his future dealings with the world. Updike infuses his style of imagery and hyperbole to highlight the character Lengal and Sammy. Updike's craft enables us to see more visually on what Sammy is thinking of

After many years of becoming a dressmaker, she became very wealthy and now owns a store in San Francisco. Another strong female character is Ántonia. Ántonia moved to America from Lithuania, lost her father, worked in a field like a man and now she owns a home with her husband and 10 kids.
Although, her name does suit her in some ways, because as much as she is fierce and simple-minded, she is also loyal and kind to the people she cares about. It is hard to understand the struggle of another person that is forced to live in a society where they are seen as inferior to the societal norm due to uncontrollable circumstances. How It Went Down by Kekla Magoon is a story about a young African American male that is shot by a white American male. The story is made up a multiple accounts of the people connected to the lives of Tariq Johnson and Jack Franklin. These are real life accounts of the person 's emotions and their point of view on the incident. The big question of the entire incident is whether Tariq was armed or not, and the more we are exposed to multiple stories the further we are from the truth.
” Life goes on in the Lee household, and eventually Lydia finds herself a sophomore in high school. Her parents push her to take advanced, rigorous courses, and although her parents are under the impression that Lydia is a happy girl at school with lots of friends and adequate grades, they are wrong. She is actually very lonely, and her friends only use her for homework. Her grades are severely slipping as well. Since Lydia does not share these feelings with her parents, they weigh her down.
An important part of a person’s life is when they finally learn how to be more mature and have basically come of age. When a character achieves this quest in a story it is called the Bildungsroman. In this genre of literature, the story displays and demonstrates how the character grows up and becomes an adult. They learn how to be mature in important situations and most importantly they are able to leave behind their ties to their childhood. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is very immature throughout most of the story.
