What character qualities do you think exemplify an NHS member? How do you personally exemplify these qualities? Give specific examples. Character qualities that I think exemplify a National Honor Society member are treating everyone as equals no matter your own personal preferences, wanting to further your education not only for grades, and exceeding in your ambitions even with extreme setbacks and struggles. Treating everyone as equals no matter your own personal preferences is a crucial trait for a member of the National Honor Society because a personal bias against a certain group of people changes many different situations and influences your own character. Treating everyone as equals can improve a person's day and begin to reform the society for newer generations. Everyone can remember a kid from school that people avoided and talked about behind their backs. An example of someone who excelled in this trait is Hamen Girma, a blind and deaf woman who pursued her passion of law, eventually becoming the first blind and deaf student to graduate from Harvard Law School; she is also now following her ambition of fighting for better education of other blind and deaf people around the world. Many challenges can face a person, such as physical challenges, challenges at home, and emotional challenges. A person's challenges should not define them and make them give up on what they wish in their lives. Challenges should make people want to be better and to show others that the challenge doesn't define them. Someone who gives up the moment things get challenging or when they don't understand something is not someone who should be in NHS. NHS members should be the people that take those challenges and strive so they can overcome
