In the tragic play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Mercutio and Tybalt have an argument which leads up to a fight to the death but they both end up dying. Even though some may believe it’s Mercutio’s fault for the deaths, I believe that it’s Tybalt’s fault for both of the deaths. I believe that Tybalt is responsible for both his own and Mercutio’s death because he is hot-headed and opinionated when it comes to listening to other people One of the Reasons Tybalt is to blame for both of the deaths is because of his careless action choice. After talking to Mercutio, Tybalt was furious and wanted to fight him “(Draws his sword)”
In the world today people tend to act without having a clue what the ending results would be. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a perfect example of people acting without thinking. Tybalt who is a capulet and is Juliet’s cousin is used as an example to see why your decisions matter. Throughout the whole play, it is evident that he almost “never examines the consequence of his actions” (Dickey 470) as his impulsivity assumes total control. By being so reckless and hasty, Romeo leads himself and his love straight to the tomb. After Mercutio’s death, “Romeo casts aside all reason and begins a chain of passionate action” (Dickey 470), consequently leading to his and his lover’s ultimate doom. The logical and reasonable action to take is to be patient and let the law punish Tybalt for his felony; however, Romeo acts with haste and charges at Tybalt instead. Not only does Romeo manage to kill Tybalt, but he also turns the law against himself, as the Prince declares Romeo’s banishment.
On page 428-429, Romeo and Tybalt fight, and Tybalt is the one who falls. Some might argue that Tybalt’s hot head and aggression is the reason the tragic ending occurred, but Romeo took his own decision to slay Tybalt, and also unknowingly aided the death of his friend, mercutio. Many might also argue that the Friar, for his options that he presents to the young teens, was to blame for the loss of the two. However, what he presented were only options, Romeo and Juliet were not forced to accept or execute any of plans. What they did was completely based on their own decisions.
Romeo displays irresponsibility as exemplified in his decision to kill Tybalt in a fit of anger and to commit suicide in the name of love. Of the many poor decisions Romeo makes, and one of the most pivotal, in the play is when he kills Tybalt in a fit of anger. The article “Romeo and Juliet” in the Gale Virtual Reference Library puts what happens between Romeo and Tybalt in words perfectly when they state, “Killing Tybalt is a rash act that needed not have happened if Romeo had been better able to control himself. Instead, Romeo succumbs to an irrational and violent reaction and then feels sorry for himself as "fortune's fool" who has been pushed by fate into committing the terrible deed” (Hacht).
In the middle of the play, Romeo kills Tybalt after Tybalt kills Mercutio. This leads to the family's feud becoming more hostile and even leading to the banishment of Romeo. “Immediately we do exile him hence” (III.i.183). This reveals that Romeo’s decision to kill Tybalt not only escalates the feud between the two families but also leads to his own banishment, and this reckless decision highlights Romeo’s inability to control his emotions and think about the consequences for his actions. Therefore, Romeo’s impulsive and reckless decision to kill Tybalt ultimately sets off a tragic chain of events that leads to the deaths of the pair of star-crossed
In William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo’s love and loyalty for Juliet is proven, but his impulsive and foolish acts later lead to the tragic death of both himself and his one true love. Romeo shows his loyalty for Juliet by never wanting to spend a moment without her, but it’s that loyalty, that turns into impulsiveness. Because he never wants to be without Juliet, Romeo makes many decision that are viewed as foolish. He makes his choices depending on Juliet and not himself.

In fact, throughout the play, these three elements if you think about it are in every single Shakespearean tragedy.
