Charles Darwin Research Paper

The Theory of Evolution, founded by Charles Darwin in 1859, is often denied by many people for religious reasons, which is, of course, acceptable. Evolution is defined as the natural process by which organisms undergo change after many years or centuries, to help adapt to their environment. An example of such was the supposable evolution of a polar bear. Polar bears were thought to start off as brown bears very long ago who ventured too up North, and went through the change of a white coloring, to blend into the snow, and thicker fur because of the much cooler temperatures. Not to mention many other adaptations such as smaller ears to keep heat in and change in diet. Charles Darwin, the man who really discovered evolution or natural selection, …show more content…

His two main discoveries include natural selection and evolution. Natural selection, thought to be the main process of evolution, is the process by which organisms with better adaptable capabilities, such as a larger beak, tend to survive and reproduce more offspring. In example, a finch who’s surrounded by various nuts and fruits, will most likely adapt a larger beak to help them pry those nuts open or peel the fruit of trees. Charles Darwin went on voyages to many countries and islands to help perfect his research and right countless books to support his theory. Not until 1859, he published a book called The Voyage of the Beagle. This book contained 490 pages of his research on the origins of species Charles Darwin is considered to be the most important person in the Evolution …show more content…

Evolution is a very extensive, prolonged process that can take many years. However, humans are supposedly causing animals to evolve faster mostly since we’re hunting them to extinction and taking away their habitats. “Bighorn sheep are one of many species now documented as getting smaller, on average, due to trophy hunting that targets larger specimens and leaves smaller members of a population, and their genes, to reproduce.” Live Science, a research site, quoted. Bighorn sheep in this instance are adapting to be smaller, so that they’re harder to shoot for hunting. Allegedly, the sheep who were smaller were able to survive more than their fellow, larger sheep - which resulted into them being able to reproduce more offspring. Gradually, that gene that caused the big horn sheep to be smaller became more dominant, because it was a necessity for survival. “Acting as super-predators, humans are forcing changes to body size and reproductive abilities in some species 300 percent faster than would occur naturally [...]” Another quote from the site Life Science that this time depicts evolution happening about 300 percent faster than normal! Now that people are causing evolution to become a more rapid process, what do they think of
