The story of Charlie is a fantastic one. Interesting, heartwarming, and tragic all at the same time. The author does a great job incorporating the concept of maintaining your identity into the short story about a First Nations boy and his escape from residential school. Based on my understanding of identity, I strongly feel that the author was indeed trying to relay a message in regards to the importance of knowing who you are and holding on to that.
