“The Big Field” by Mike Lupica is a great book for readers that love baseball. The book is a realistic fiction that has two hundred and seventy two pages. I enjoyed this book because I play shortstop for my baseball them just like the main character in this book. Keith Hutchinson but goes by the name “Hutch” is the main character in this book. He is a young boy that is an avid baseball player for the Cardinals his hometown team.
In The Time Of Butterflies was written by Julia Alvarez. Julia Alvarez is a Dominican-American poet, novelist, and essayist. She wrote In the time of Butterflies in 1994. The book divided into four sections, which make the sisters to have their own sections. The story took place in Dominican Republic during President Trujillo’s dictatorship government.
In America, we grow up in a society that grooms us to become a successful and happy adult. A society in which people are able to say and do what they want. In wanting to avoid this confrontation he leaves three days earlier taking a train back to Manhattan. Where he goes on adventure that turns him into a young man.
The book “I Survived the Shark Attack” is a thrilling fictional tale about a boy who got attacked by a shark and survived. This tale is based on shark attacks in the summer of 1916. The story takes place in New Jersey in a small city called Elm Hills near the atlantic ocean. Chet Roscow is a friendly, brave, and adventurous 10 year old boy. His family is constantly moving because his father is always chasing new business ideas.

This quarter I read the realistic fiction book, The Batboy by Mike Lupica. This book is a story about a 14 year old boy named Brian Dudley. Son of a former pitcher and an avid baseball fan, Brian gets his dream summer job: the bat boy for his favorite team the Detroit Tigers. When it seems like his summer cannot get any better, his all-time favorite player Hank Bishop is signed to the team. At the beginning, Hank is cold and yells at Brian a lot, but in the end they become friends.

He was born on January 25, 1970 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and was raised by a Catholic family consisting of his mother, father, and younger sister. He was moved by novel “The Catcher in the Rye” made by J.D. Salinger when he was a teenager. He graduated from Upper St. Clair High School, he met Stewart Stern who is the screen writer of Rebel Without a Cause, and both became close friends. When he finished writing The Perks of Being a Wallflower, he revealed that the Bill Anderson, a literature teacher, was inspired by Stewart Stern and throughout his development, he showed the positive influence of Stern.
Stephen Chbosky uses the title The Perks of Being a Wallflower to display irony, because Charlies life while being excluded by society has everything but good moments in them. After the party where he was dared to kiss the prettiest girl in the room and Charlie didn't choose his girlfriend, Charlie’s friends stopped talking to him. Charlies already poor mental health became worse when he was alone. In a letter on pg 144, about the aftermath of that incident he wrote, “ I don’t know how much longer I can keep going without a friend. I use to be able to do it very easily, but that was before I knew what having a friend is like.”
