The novel Pride and Prejudice written by Jane Austen is a reflection of social standards, and day to day life in the beginning of the 19th century. Austen suggests that marriage and the happiness of a woman experiences throughout life are directly correlated. In the case of Charlotte Lucas who is one of the female characters in the novel and film she settles to marry a decent man.
