“The Challenges of Charming Charlie” Personal Reflection For this assignment and presentation, the focus was on educating children on or with media. With that being said, my group and I decided to create a television adbreak that focused on conflict resolution for children. Deciding on this concept was a tedious task as everyone had their own idea of what they wanted to do, and narrowing down the collection of ideas was no easy task. As a group, we knew we wanted to present something that focused on conflict resolution because outside of the classroom, the idea of enforcing the importance of conflict resolution is not at the forefront of peoples minds, even though it is a valuable life skill. At first, the group members wanted to create puppets but knowing our creative skills, or lack thereof, we decided that might not be the best route. We then tried to create an animation for the media portion of the assignment, but again, our skills were a bit lacklustre. While the other group members were attempting to come up with a solution, I found a storyboard maker that allowed you to create specified boards which ended up being a simple, yet effective way to present the adbreak. The program that I used was called www.storyboardthat.com and ended up bing the perfect solution to our media problem. However, with that being said, the problems only seemed to continue when it came to the media aspect of the assignment. The vocals that were originally created by Katie and Danielle, were not able to be downloaded onto Julianne’s software because we did not have an external microphone.
