Authors throughout the ages have tried many different ways to portray women. To go along with that, women have changed throughout those time periods. That’s why it would be hard to portray women. A woman in the 18th century will be different from a woman in the 21st century. It would take a special kind of author to portray a woman because they are all different depending on their time period.
In “The Wife of Baths Tale” the woman is dirty and ugly. A woman writer in that time period would have never made a woman out to look like a sexual heathen. Only a man would or could have shown a side of a woman that women would not have want to show. Chaucer did negatively stereotype women throughout his tale and in doing so he portrayed women incorrectly.
