Geoffrey Chaucer had done many things, including being a son of a merchant, page in the royal house, soldier, diplomat, and a royal clerk. He has seen quite of the world which helped him see the world as it was. He wrote a collection of stories to make a political point. He died on October 25, 1400 before he was done righting all of his poems and short stories. Also Chaucer is known as the father of the English language not because he made it up it’s because he was the first person to spell it. It was the language of the lower class people who talked this language. In some of his poem and short stories he likes to use satire to reach his audience, but still look like the events happened.

Back in the time of the Greek, they had a triangle system was split into 3 different parts. The top part of the triangle was the Gods because they were the most powerful. The next part was men because they believed that under the gods men had the most power. The last part of the triangle which also was also the bottom was the women. The women didn’t have any control over the guys of the gods. That idea of the Gods being the most powerful people and the women with the least amount of power was an organic idea which also was natural and lead to the Gods so when anyone questioned the idea they questioned the Gods and back in those days you didn’t want to make the Gods angry. Chaucer told a story about this young knight who did some bad things and his punishment was that for a year he had to go and find out what women want most and so the year was up and he was sad because he didn’t have an answer and before he waked into the castle an old women stopped him and told him the answer and so he told the queen. The answer was that women want to have control over there men. The queen loved the answer and let him free but the old lady stood up and told the people she was the one who gave him the answer and so he had to marry her. He doesn’t like the way people classify other people in the community. What the classifications were the more money you have the more important you are and if you don’t have money then you didn’t care about what they have to say. In today society we do the very same think. We listen to people who have money and they are more important than those who don’t have money. We actually shut out the poor people and we sometime want to think that they are not there. I think that it was the same way back in the day but worse. Chaucer doesn’t like this because I think he believed that even though someone might be poor they might have a good idea or even a good person to talk to and cheer you up. Even today the U.S. struggles with the poor in society so I guess that not a lot has changed but that was one thing that he wrote on with
