Most people are likely to care more about issues involving with racism and sexism during the mid to late 1900s. However, Chaz Bono, a writer and media director, sees that LGBT issues was one main dilemma that was being ignored by the nation. Homosexuals were discriminated by the people, the law, and the government. Therefore, Chaz Bono was involved in supporting LGBT rights(1) as he began his childhood as a transgender,(2) inducing him into pursuing change in gay and lesbian discrimination by increasing public awareness(3).

First, Chaz Bono, as young, became perplexed with his gender as a feminist. Bono was born on March 4, 1969 with the name Chasity as a feminist. However, while growing up, he describes that he “look at other girls my age and feel perplexed by their obvious interest in the latest fashion, which boy in class was the cutest...”(qtd. in Family Outing). This confusion within his personal life make him determined to become a transgender, and support others who have chosen to not let sex define their gender. Second, being the son of two pop singer gave Chaz Bono the ability to speak out publicly and spread the truth on homosexuals. As the son of the famous Sonny Bono and Cher Sarkisian, Chaz Bono appeared in many TV shows in his lifetime. As his appearance on public media grew viral, Bono became popular as his parents (Lowe). His popularity gave him opportunity to be the writer of Advocate, have his own TV shows, and film his own movies. Third, Chaz Bono’s mother, Cher, fully supported in his son’s decision in becoming a transgender. Unlike many other typical parents, Cher decided that she will accept the fact that Chaz wants to become a transgender. Chaz bono claims, “There's stuff she [Cher] respects and loves about me, so we agree to disagree” (Nytimes). Instead of stopping Chaz Bono’s decision, Cher decides to respect the judgement and assist Chaz like a loving parent.
