The article, “Oklahoma Law: Tough on Minority Party and Independent Presidential Candidates”, by Richard Winger seeks to explain how Oklahoma stringent election laws came to be and why having these laws that make it difficult for minor parties to succeed should change. The problem Winger addresses in his article is supported by historical evidence ranging back from 1890 to today, with comparisons made to other states. The case against rigid election laws that Winger presents is supported by over a century of historical evidence he presents. Starting in 1890, when Oklahoma was still a territory, voters were free to create their own ballots. These ballots were typically provided by a voter’s preferred political party and would only carry the
Before the Constitution, the colonists were under Britain’s rule. The tyrant was named King George III and he charged the colonists with unreasonable taxes, started wars, and made them do things that were unfair to their rights. The colonists were outraged about the situation and wanted to do something to stop it. A group of colonists worked together on an important document called the Constitution. This Constitution was made particularly to guard against tyranny.
The first government of the United States was outlined in the Articles of Confederation written in 1871. Under this system, the states operated as sovereign nations. The weak national government, which consisted of nothing more than a unicameral legislature, did not have the authority to tax the states, settle interstate disputes or effectively support a military. Following the Revolutionary War, the inadequacies of the national government became apparent. This led to the drafting of the Constitution in 1787.
“Is a democracy, such as we know it, the last improvement possible in government? Is it not possible to take a step further towards recognizing and organizing the rights of man? There will never be a really free and enlightened State until the State comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived, and treats him accordingly.” To answer his question democracy is not the last improvement possible as we have witnessed over the years, also we do need to realize why those who are in a power/ higher authority that us get the final decision and we also need to realize that we give them this power to oppress and undermine us so that they are the all
As a former leader of the free world, President Obama evidences and clarifies the benefits and defining qualities of a democracy that encourages for the formation of more democratic forms of government. “Governments that respect the rights of their citizens and abide by the rule of law do better, grow faster, draw more investment than those who don’t” (President Obama). This respect not only establishes a peaceful relationship between the government and its people but also allows freedom to reign. This analysis of the effects of democracy on human rights is necessary, for it is quite evident that in authorities and monarchies these same freedoms are not granted.

The separation of powers also know as the check and balancing system is a method that estabilishes a proptional control of the government. The three branches the United states government has is the legislative, excuetive , and judicial branch . The legislative branch creates the law, the executive branch is the figure- head and judicial branch interprets and applies the law. The purpose of the separation of power is to distribute the authority amongst all branches. When a president gets elected for a term they are allowed to appoint a supreme court justice.
The United States Constitution provides for separation of powers and checks and balances by dividing the central government into three different branches, Legislative, Executive, and Judiciary. The purpose of separation of powers and checks and balances is to prevent one branch from becoming more powerful than the others. The Legislative branch is established in the 1st Article of the Constitution. The Executive branch is established in the 2nd Article of the Constitution; while the Judiciary is established in the 3rd Article of the Constitution. As the founders were creating the Constitution, they feared a central government too weak but also one that was too strong.
A government is set into place by the people to govern society. Complete rule over others is not accomplished through the appearance of order. The more the government tries to unfairly govern its people with the use of violence and force, the more rebellion by the people will occur. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the government tried to rule over its people by the use of censorship and by the complete eradication of knowledge along with individuality. In the autobiography I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai, the Taliban used violence and fear to govern the people of Pakistan.
A dictatorship is government ruled where one or more than one group is in full control over every aspect of government. It’s the absolute rule made my one person over many people that the government oversees. Now with the way dictatorship is set up, democracy and people’s opinions are hard to come by. This idea that every dictatorship is evil isn’t always the case. There are such things as a good dictator who listens to the people, but that is very rare.

Absolute Monarchy is a form of government where it’s ruled by a king and he has an absolute power over everyone and that there is no one higher or equal to him. Even though they are similar, Absolute monarchy is not the same as dictatorship. Totalitarianism is a political and social concept that explains a form of government where the state has all control over the civilians. Such government assumes full power, without any limitations. As put by Juan Linz, a totalitarian scholar, the three main factors of a totalitarianism government are “a monistic center of power; an ideology developed, justified and pursued by the leadership; and mass participation in political and social goals encouraged and even demanded by that same leadership” (Silberstein 42). Throughout the 20th century the manifestation of totalitarianism was an extreme measure of harsh political occurrences.
