One of the most overlooked sports is cheerleading. It challenges you physically along with mentally. The skills that are required to become a collegiate level cheerleader are not like anything else. You have to know how to push yourself past your limits and forget everything in your head that tells you not to flip your body backwards and just go. It takes years of training your mind and body to be thrown 10 feet in the air and just flip. Although many still argue that cheerleading is not a sport, it is way more then cheering for a football team. Some of the best college cheerleading programs out there are The University of South Florida, Morehead State University, and The University of Alabama. Along with the football team, Alabama's cheerleaders are always there cheering on the sidelines doing stunts to wow the crowd. Their all girl team, “ took home its second Division 1A all-girl national championship in program history Sunday evening at the 2020 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship, winning the competition” (“Alabama Cheerleading Wins 2020 UCA Division 1A All-Girl National Championship - University of Alabama Athletics''). They won the competition, meaning they got the highest score out of any team there. At the UCA college nationals 2020, “ More than 400 college teams are scheduled to compete at this year's event.” (“NCA College Nationals 2022”). So Alabmas all-girl team beat over 400 other collegiate cheerleading teams in the world. Winning the whole competition is the award that only the best of the best can get.
