I am taking CIS 105 class because I believe that if I were to become an accountant, I should be knowledgeable with the computer. I want to understand the uses of application software to prepare myself for my career in accounting. I’m taking an online class because this is more convenient for me and I 've taken online classes in the past and I didn’t have any problem with it because all my previous instructors are good communicators and that’s all I 'm expecting from Mr. Bill Stewart when I say a good communicator what I mean with that is very clear in giving instructions and willing to give us example of how to do it.
I assist teachers and providers with planning and organizing learning experiences. During times when my student is with another teacher and my presence is not required I assist the classroom teacher or special education teachers with preparing learning materials. I have used the copier, computer, laminator and various other educational materials. I also do my own research and look for different types of games, worksheets or crafts I think would be beneficial not only for my student but for the entire
There are many things I learned in my interview with Rosemary Plorin. I learned what skills are invaluable in the public relations field. What seemed to be most impressive about Plorin is growth from her humble beginnings. She did not go to college bright-eyed and ready to become the healthcare PR powerhouse she is today. She underwent a gradual change that required introspective reflection.
I learned about Occidental from my family, my cousin Brian Smith is the offensive coordinator for Oxy's football team and his wife Liane Smith works for Oxy as well. When I visited Oxy I was able to experience the school for what it really is, an amazing community. Everyone I talked to, students and staff, were very friendly and made me feel right at home. I was able to attend the homecoming barbecue and football game and it really left me with a great feeling about the school. My main interest in Occidental is that it is a liberal arts school.
Nickel and Dimed, written by Barbara Ehrenreich goes in depth of workers that have minimum wage jobs and are trying to survive in the U.S economy. Ehrenreich’s goes incognito trying to work in low-end jobs. Experiencing the hardships that many Americans face, Ehrenreich learns that money is not equal to the work and grief put in. Everywhere in the novel, Ehrenreich expresses that owners of corporations keep the workers down. As quoted, “…everyone knows they have crossed over to the other side, which is, crudely put, corporate as opposed to human" (Ehrenreich, 22).
Although Salt to the Sea is a story about things that have been lost and people enduring extreme hardships, it is also a story about hope, family, and love. In the novel Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys, a band of refugees find unlikely friends and family within a group they formed to help each other get through the horrors of the war taking place in 1945 in Germany. The characters board a ship to bring them to safety in western Germany, however it tragically sinks and only 1/10 survive. The love and bonds that were created amongst strangers eventually gave them will and hope to carry on and to survive.
Everyone needs to struggle in order to preform better. Writing has always been a strength of mine, but I found it a challenge to move from the high school, six-paragraph essay format that I had grown accustomed to. Throught the course of this semester, I was able to acquire many different skills in ENG 1101 that have helped me transition into more complex writing. These include various writing techniques, MLA formatting, writing for purpose, convincing my arguments and finding and properly using sources. The portfolio I have submitted is comprised of three works of writing that I completed for ENG 1101 over the last three months.
While reading “Crispin the cross of lead,” I learned many things. Crispin is a 13 year old boy who becomes a fugitive after his mom dies. While reading this book, i realized there was many themes to this book. But i realized there was one theme that stood out to me and that was bravery.
The Driscoll model of reflection gives a framework for reflective writing, allowing ideas and situations to be analysed and interpreted for personal and professional growth and development (Bostock 2015), therefore I have applied this approach in reflecting upon my experience in the group presentation. What? The beginning of our group presentation started with a conversation where we all gave our opinions and ideas on what we could do the presentation on and how we would go about it.
As the current holder of this position, I understand the amount of work and dedication it takes to be a successful Teaching Assistant. Through my experience with this position, I have learned the demeanor an educator must hold while working with students. You must hold firm to your policies and curriculum, but also be gentle enough to where a student never feels as if they have failed, will fail, or fear asking for help. I have learned a multitude of skills while working as a Teaching Assistant, including: how to grade varying levels of academic work fairly and consistently, but also according to policy; classroom management; curriculum management; public speaking; working with students; and much more. In addition to my experience as a Teaching
A. OBJECTIVE AND THEORETICAL BACKGROUND In this individual reflective report, I will discuss how the Consulting Project course gave me opportunities to experience, explore and evaluate the real-life business case, how it strengthen my practical business knowledge, problem solving and leadership skills, and how the learning process will support my personal development goals. To help structure my reflective report, I will apply the Kolb’s model of reflection which we learned from the LPDCM course. This model is also known as learning through experience, described through the Kolb’s Learning Cycle: Figure 1. Kolb’s Learning Cycle (Source: Kolb, 2005)
However, as a teaching assistant, I had to retrieve past recollection of the course material and organize them in a logical, coherent manner for some else. For example, one of my teaching assistant duties involved conducting online test reviews. I now have a greater knowledge of the course material from conducting online test reviews. Before the teaching assistance experience, I had an unreasonable expectation of when I believed a test or a paper grade should be completed.
Introduction In this reflective essay I will reflect upon the course based on the assignments and projects I have accomplished this semester. Recent research (Kornblith, 2012:3) identifies that reflection is an active process and making sense of the experience through the understanding of one’s actions. As suggested by (Roberts, 2011:63) she states that the understanding of reflection have been used to develop an action stage, which can further help to improve my skills and knowledge towards my course. This is vital as it ensures that i get the most out of my learning experience and i could use them to their maximum benefit.
