The penny, a coin in the United States is valued at one hundredth of a dollar, or one twenty-fifth of a gumball. Over 1.65 trillion pennies have been produced by the United States Mint for circulation since 1792. The United States penny should be taken out of circulation from the United States economy because pennies cost more to make than what they are worth on its face value. The high amount of penny production has led to a large consumption of metals including zinc and copper. Additionally, inflation has caused the penny to have little to no value in today’s economy.
1) Q: Beah moves around in time as he tells his story, flashing forward and backward. What is the effect of this technique of the overall meaning of the text? Would it be more effective if he stuck to strict chronology? Why or why not?
For the unknown phase two project, I was assigned unknown number one. After many tests, I came to the conclusion that my unknown was Acinetobacter baumannii. It had cultural characteristics of yellow or clear colony pigmentation, smooth and translucent surface, circular form, smooth margin, and flat elevation. The unknown’s broth properties included a ring, turbidity, and sediment.
In order to determine the significance of the data found in these trials, statistical analysis tests were performed. A significance value of 0.05 was selected and after running the statistical analysis tests, both the Young’s modulus and elastic toughness had a significant value of less than 0.05. The null hypothesis was then rejected, confirming that our data was acceptable. After comparing the Young’s modulus and elastic toughness of neoprene and silicone to skin, it was determined that silicone would make the best skin substitute. Skin has a Young’s modulus of 0.05 to 3.51 MPa [2].
The purpose of this lab was to test the mechanical properties of various nut and sea-shell structures, and their materials. For compression, we determined the ultimate strength, toughness, elasticity, and Young’ modulus for the almond, brazil nut, pecan, walnut, and hazelnut shells using a material testing apparatus. Properties were recorded in both intact and fragmented forms. This procedure allows us to see if the intact shell properties directly reflect the ultimate strength, toughness, elasticity, and Young’ modulus of the materials that make up the shell or if the structure shell itself plays a bigger role. Methods Before compressed, we recorded length, width, and thickness for each type of nut to find the cross-sectional area.
Thermopylae: Thermopylae was a battle fought between the Greek alliances within the city-states, which was led by King Leonidas of Sparta and the Persian Empire of Xerxes I over the course of three days, during the second Persian invasion of Greece. Peloponnesian War: Athens and Sparta united during the Greco-Persian wars, after the war was over, Athens grew more powerful this caused tensions to rise between Sparta and Athens. They fought each other for nearly 30 years until Sparta was victorious. Unfortunelty Athens was left bankrupt and demolished.
Viewers of NCIS are finding themselves slightly bummed that the season of the popular show has come to a conclusion. Summer is always a slow time when it comes to TV finales. While viewers wait, writers are planning new fall episodes of the popular show. Of course, fans appreciate the effort going into the upcoming season. It’s just so hard to wait.
Question Will the percentage of acid in a fruit affect how much power, or elecrical current it can produce? Hypothesis I believe acidity will affect a fruits production of an electrical current. The more acidic the fruit, the more electricity it will produce.
Lecturer Date Introduction Theoretical Background Procedure The procedure was segmented into two categories, the reaction set up and the crude product isolation. Reaction set up The magnetic stirrer was prepared through placing it in the fume cupboard. 1 mmol of L-Phenylalanine was placed and weighed in a 5 mL conical vial.
To analyze the acetanilide product of the reaction, 1H NMR and IR were used. Results, Discussions, and Conclusions In this experiment, acetanilide was synthesized via nucleophilic acyl substitution from both acetic anhydride and aniline. During this reaction, aniline acts as the nucleophile and acyl (CH3CO-) group from acetic anhydride acts as the electrophile.
What is chemistry anyways? When I first think of chemistry, I imagine explosions, test tubes and clouds of smoke. This may be true, partially anyways, but there is so much more to chemistry. Officially, chemistry is “…a science that describes the physical properties, composition, structure and reactions of matter” [1] but how does this really affect us? Imagine all the possible chemistry reactions that is happening inside our very own bodies right now.
After the creation of the NPT, came the birth of nine significant regimental elements of the organization: the Atoms for Peace Program (APP), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones (NWFZs). The Atoms for Peace Program, during its creation in the 1950’s, came about with huge expectations that it would allow for affordable electricity to people from all types of socio-economic backgrounds around the world. This enthusiastic belief was spread by some of the most influential figures of the time, including Winston Churchill whom announced that atomic energy is ‘’a perennial fountain of world prosperity’’ (Cirincione, J 2007). This however never eventuated, despite the construction of nuclear facilities steadily increasing around the world, and progression in areas of medicine, the promise of an endless supply of affordable electricity never occurred.
2. GRAPHENE FABRICATION TECHNIQUES Fabrication of graphene can be divided into two different approaches. They are bottom-up and top-down approaches. Bottom-up methods involve synthesizing graphene from alternative carbon containing sources, whereas top-down methods involve breaking apart the stacked layers of graphite to yield graphene.
Most Americans in contemporary society run on an automatic default setting, not bothering to question what they attest to on an everyday basis. A monotonous routine sets in that transcends into future generations. In this current fast paced way of life it’s not difficult to fall into the trap of the unregulated food industry. The least of many concerns is to worry about a couple of unpronounceable words on the back of the cereal box one has for breakfast each morning. Many of these ingredients and their derivatives are unknown to the common shopper.
What is Processed Food? The term ‘processed food’ applies to any food that has been changed from its natural state in some way, either for safety reasons or convenience. Some foods need processing to make them safe, such as milk, which needs to be pasteurized to remove harmful bacteria. Other foods need processing to make them suitable for use, such as pressing seeds to make oil.
