C10 trucks are very well known in the United States and Canada, the trucks were made to replace semis for smaller, lighter cargo. The Chevrolet C10 trucks from 1960-1987, are used for many different reasons, but how they are used today is quite different, the different trims and how the General Motors Design Team meant for the trucks to be used. The C10s today are used as show trucks now, people put newer engines in the trucks, which makes them run better and they will be faster while at the same time they burn cleaner because the newer motors have better emissions, so it is better for the environment (Hodgdon). You can get any C10 in the world and fix it up to be a "killer" meaning that it would be able to beat most of the newer cars/trucks …show more content…
The trucks could come with an automatic transmission or a manual, the automatic options were a Th350 or a Th400, these both were 3-speed transmissions (Hunkins). In the 1980's Chevrolet came out with the 700r4 transmission which was a 4-speed automatic for the highways and higher speeds (Hunkins). The manual options for transmission were the 4-speed granny low and the regular 4-speed transmission (Hunkins). Most C10's come with the GM 350 Ci. small block V-8, or the inline 6. In today's world people are putting more efficient engines into trucks, these engines are called LS, and they have 327 Ci. so it is a smaller engine but they make almost twice the power as the old small block Chevy's (Bowman). The C/K truck series comes with 10 different engine choices. The most common engine is the 250 Ci. inline six-cylinder, the 350 Ci. Small block Chevrolet, and the 454 Ci. Big block Chevrolet (Hunkins). Some trucks with a higher trim could come with the 454 Big Block Chevy, which has a bigger and higher output engine. In today's world, the desired engine is the Chevrolet Performance LS376/525 Crate engine
