The Chicago Cubs incredible 2014/15 season came to a disappointing end Wednesday night. Chicago was swept by the New York Mets, eliminating them from the NLCS. Although it was a tough way to end such a great season, it still gives a lot for Cubs fans to look back on and celebrate. It all started in the offseason. The Cubs appointed Joe Maddon as manager of the team. Maddon transformed the Tampa Bay Rays into a World Series winning team, and was looking for the same challenge in Chicago. He was the perfect coach to take over the team. Maddon is best at relaxing players, keeping them focused, and making them better and better. The Cubs were slowly and surely gaining confidence, lead by young hitters Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant. From the all star game to the end of the season, the Cubs had the best record in baseball. Their incredible form late got them into the NL Wild Card game. Playing an elimination game in a rowdy stadium like Pittsburg would be a great test for the young Cubbies. The Cubs already got as far as they expected too, and they knew that anything more would be a bonus. That lack of pressure made the team so much better. An early lead gave them a sense of belief, and put even more pressure on Pittsburgh. The star of the show was Jake Arrieta, Chicagos pitcher who had kept getting better as the season went on. Pittsburgh couldn’t hit anything thrown at them, and lost control as the game on. It ended up being an easy win for the Cubs, putting them into the NL divisional series. Thier opponents, the Saint Louis Cardinals. The best team in the past couple of seaons in the MLB, and the team Chicago loves to hate. The series started off poorly, with a 4-0 loss in Game 1, but that did not seem to phase the young Chicago team. They stole Game 2 in Saint Louis to send the series to Chicago even at
