Over the past couple of years, Chicago has blossomed into one of the leading technology hubs in the world, bringing in over $1.7 billion in funding in 2015. With hundreds of startups emerging every year, the opportunity to find employment with a rapidly growing and innovative organization is unprecedented. My passion for technology has brought me great success in the field of sales over the last six years. In the next phase of my career, I hope to step into a leadership role within the startup community here in Chicago. When the time is right, I hope to branch out and build a company of my own. This program provided me with a great foundation to build upon. In the six courses that I have taken, I requested to be graded at a graduate level when applicable. I received all A’s in these courses, which you will see in the attachment of my application. My official transcript is being mailed to the graduate admission office. This Spring I was able to learn Node.js when I took IT-D 465. This was one of my favorite courses because it allowed me to see how a framework can be utilized to make programming more efficient and streamlined. Combining languages like AJAX, JavaScript, Jade, and JSON into the Express framework proved to be challenging but very rewarding. When I began learning object oriented programming I was overwhelmed. Over the six classes that I have taken, I have begun to pick up on the similarities between different languages. Homework has become something that I look forward to at the end of the day. Completing a complex project and seeing it work as I envisioned is an extremely rewarding experience. Another one of my favorite courses was IT-D 462, which focused on building a CRUD application with PHP. This course introduced me to how an application can interact with a database to bring more life to your project. The certificate program not only provided me with a strong foundation to build upon, but I now know that I genuinely enjoy writing
