The Chicago White sox is a baseball franchise that has been running for over 100 years in the MLB (Major League Baseball). In fact the White Soxs have been in the majors for 117 years and surprisingly have not been one of the most successful franchises in the league, actually one of the worst. The White Sox originated as the Sioux City Cornhuskers of the Western League, a minor league under the parameters of the National Agreement with the National League. In 1894 the team was moved to St. Paul Minnesota where they became the St. Paul Saints. Around 1900 the team then moved to Chicago where the teams new names was the White Stockings. This year was 1906 and when the White sox did this everybody thought they were going to be the next big franchise but they did not make another world series appearance until 1917 where they met up with the New York Giants but they did not stop there as the made one two years later in 1919 where they lost to the Cincinnati Reds but something was a little fishy about this lost to the world series. In the four loses the White Sox had some people didn’t look like they were trying, so the league looked into it. In 1920 the league banned 8 players from the white sox franchise which this was called the “Black Sox Scandal”. The league came to a conclusion that 8 of the White Sox players gave up the World series for money. The 8 players names were, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Eddie Cicotte, Oscar “Happy” Felsch, Claude “Lefty” Williams, Arnold “Chick” Gandil, Fred McMullin, Charles “Swede” Risberg, and George “Buck” Weaver. The team did not win another playoff home game until 2005 which you would think the crowd would be disappointed about this but the White Sox fans were a big thing especially threw the 60’s they were on of the more well known teams around America. The team would draw big crowds to the parks almost every night as they blew fireworks and were the first team to wear names on the back of there shirts. The team did good for a short while driving in crowds but soon fell off and was one of the worst teams in the league as they lost over and over again. The team finish multiple years with the worst record in the league. In 1983 the team had their first winning season where they went 60-25 and won the AL West title.
