Opportunities Chick-fil-a has a great opportunity to continue expanding their menu. In 2016 they introduced “super foods” like kale and Broccolini® to its menu. By continuing to appeal to a broader range of customers and offering health conscious foods, Chick-fil-A will continue to promote brand awareness, increase revenue and set themselves apart from their competitors. Expansion of lower calorie food, use of cage free eggs, organic offerings, antibiotic and hormone free items and local farms could all contribute to the continued growth. Currently the only Chick-fil-A merchandise a consumer can purchase are items related to the Cow Campaign or CFA Bowl merchandise. Sheetz, originally started as a convenience store in 1961 and expanded to gasoline in 1973 has emerged into the quick service restaurant with their made-to-order food. Sheetz has capitalized on their large customer fan based nicknamed Sheetz Freak and has launched a wide variety of branded merchandise available to purchase instore and online. Merchandise varies from drinking accessories, blankets bedding and posters. Employees of Chick-fil-A are able to purchase branded merchandise similar to Sheetz, however, the items are not available for consumer purchase. Truett Cathy has proven his Christian beliefs about discipline can be embodied in a business, remaining closed on Sundays, allowing its employees to slow down one day a week, spend time with family and friends and worship if they choose to do so. His willingness to include his faith and beliefs into the corporate commitment and purpose is a testament to his discipline held and valued throughout the company.
