Child Centred practice and policy CA- There has been vast amount of development happening to the Early Childhood care and education (ECCE) sector over the past 30 years. This is due to the increase in demand of childcare services as it has become a norm for both parents to now go out to work. In the past, even if both parents did go out to work it was more common that a family relation or child minder in the area would look after the children. Up until 1973 it was Irish policy that woman did not work after they were married. This was known as the ‘marriage bar’. Quality Service provision in the ECCE sector is carried out to ensure that a high quality is bee maintain throughout aw service. Provisions include HSE inspections these inspections look into the quality of a service, management and staffing, safety, illness policy, quality of care, premise and equipment. I feel that the regulations are a good development In the ECCE sector as they make services a much safer and happier environment for children to learn, they also set a target standard for services to meet. The regulations are continually enforced by visit inspections be the HSE. When the regulations we introduced there was no layout of the qualification needed to be able to work in the area, in result this left wages low and employment conditions were poor in return this has a negative effect of the quality of ECCE
