I have chosen this particular course as I enjoy working with children and extending my current knowledge on child development. I believe that to become a teacher, you must have the skill to provide a difference to a child’s education which I definitely have. My experience in placements shows that I find working with children interesting and fulfilling. I am an adaptable and responsible young man dedicated to any jobs I am given and will achieve them to the best of my ability. In addition, my ability to motivate, work under pressure and inspire is a mandatory skill in becoming a head teacher. I have completed over 800 hours of work placements. I have volunteered at two different schools and a private day nursery. My placements have enabled me to put my academic knowledge into practice. I have planned and carried out many activities that improve a child’s overall development. One of my activities was to improve a child’s fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination by painting. I am able to manage challenging behaviour, carry out health and safety procedures and interact with children of all ages. Also, I work as part of a team to deliver the best lessons possible. I maintain a good relationship with the children and their parents. I have carried out five different observations which include sociogram and target child observations. From my sociogram observations, I found that one child had no friends due to shyness, so I intervened and introduced the child to other classmates. I introduced the child by doing group activities. During my placement I have observed teaching techniques and the way the teacher gets the children excited about the subject. Every day at placement was a new challenge as new lessons and different obstacles took place which required me to change my teaching method and interaction.
