There are many reasons and causes as for why individuals are in the position they are in and multiple factors that increased the chances of poverty of certain people. Unfortunately, stated in the textbook, children are likely to be poor. Juvenilization of poverty was coined because the growth rate of child poverty was increasing. One of the reasons why the poverty rate of children is significant is because high number of children have traveled to America, undocumented, and many of the families that cross over are poor, however, come to this country to establish a better life and the children would be able to succeed more over here than in their original country. Crossing any border is extremely dangerous because it is very difficult with many life-threatening obstacles and draining to anyone, and it is not cheap as well. The main reason why women are faced with poverty is that of the wage gap between them and men. “In 2015, the average women worker earned only 78 cents for every dollar earned by a man” (Suppes, Wells, & Kiltz, 2018, p. 68), and that really says something about how men are more favored and have that upper hand. However, an education does help, but not enough to close that gap. Feminization of poverty was coined since the poverty among women is increasing because of the lover wages earned and women have limited access to high paying positions compared to men. Another reason why women experience poverty is that most of the time women are put into the caregiving position for their children and one does not get paid to take care of their children.
