Child Psychology Got Career There are several career opportunities in the world today. Our world is growing and there are so many demands from people that need to be met. There are several interesting fields of careers that can be studied, but for me the one field that is the most interesting, and that I want to pursue for a possible career is child psychology. I have been interested in this field since the first semester of my senior year in high school. My senior year was the time when I took my first psychology class which was dual credit introduction to psychology. There are two main advantages and two main disadvantages. The first main advantage is having the opportunity to help kids. Knowing that I will be helping kids through difficult times will make me feel like I’m making a difference in such a big world. Also, in this career you get to see the change in the kids that are a result of you helping them. Another main advantage to this career is a child psychologist gets to experience diverse opportunities. There are several job opportunities in this field that there are several diverse work settings that you can chose to work in. As a child psychologist you can work in, “hospitals, private practices, schools, mental health clinics, and community centers”. (work.chron.com 2017) While there are many amazing advantages to this job there are also disadvantages. One disadvantage to this job is no matter how much you try, you will experience an emotional burnout multiple times in this job. Working with kids and trying to handle and help the kids out without crossing any boundaries can be difficult and emotionally draining. The kids you will face will have been dealing with circumstances that will be difficult for any child psychologists to remain in their professional boundaries and not get attached to that child. For one, I didn’t know about the supervised placement. I thought that to get my Ph.D. I only needed to have an internship. I find that interesting because while I get to help children, I will have another child psychologists there to help, lead, and teach me on the way. I will be able to learn from them and take their advice with me when I get to be on my own. There are so many things about this field that I find interesting. I have always wanted to help kids since I was in high school, and I believe that this is the best way possible. I feel like I can really make a difference in these kid’s
