Obesity has been around for a long time, although it hasn’t been a huge dilemma since then, obesity is now considered a disease that is continuously growing among the population every day and rapidly increasing every year. But just how has it become so common and what factors are leading this worldwide epidemic to occur and continue to take over our nation and world? Literature Review Obesity occurs when one accumulates an excessive amount of body fat or weight that is higher than what is really considered a healthy weight for a given height. When this occurs it often leads to the risk and increase in health problems, usually chronic diseases including Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and risk of stroke, etc. One common question that …show more content…

Now obesity is a worldwide health problem that has nearly tripled since 1975. Additionally In 2016, more than 1.9 billion cases of adults have been found to be overweight, and of these cases over 650 million people were found to be obese. On the contrary, 38.9 million children under 5 were found to be diagnostically overweight or obese in 2020. This has led to World Health Organization (W.H.O.) estimate that by 2025, obesity will affect 167 million people's health. Despite this life-threatening disease, one of the many questions asked is what factors necessarily lead to obesity? There are many causes of obesity, that includes factors like diet, fitness, and sleep. Specifically, bad dietary habits, not enough physical activity, and insufficient sleep. Although, there are several other factors, these are the main ones that are influential and are the cause of excess weight gain and obesity. The conditions in which adults live, learn, work, are also factors that are accustomed to excessive weight gain. Kids also aren’t escaping obesity. There are also many factors causing and leading
