At the sound of wagon wheels crunching on gravel, Serafina stepped out of her bedroom onto the balcony to watch the guards swing open the metal gate. She drummed fingertips against the railing as she waited. The cart rumbled into the courtyard pulled by a pair of harts, Krem sat in the driver’s seat with two more Chargers sitting on the back end. He pulled the cart to a stop once it reached the front door of the estate. The gate hinges squealed when the guards swung and locked the gate doors. Down below, Krem and the other Chargers helped three small children out of the cart and escorted them into the house. She knew a servant waited at the door. The Inquisition did everything they could to find the parents or next of kin, but those left with nowhere to go would find welcome within the Inquisition. The youngsters that had the least amount of troubles would go to Val Royeaux where nobles clamored to adopt the Civil War’s less fortunate, at least that was the case once they learned the Inquisitor adopted an orphaned child. Older children and those who needed more care before adoption would go to Skyhold where they would remain with the army, integrated as little helpers outside their school hours. Widowed parents of small children had the option to work in Skyhold or Val Royeaux, or wherever else the Inquisition needed
