“Where the Red Fern grows,” is a book and a movie. The movie and the book has the same scenes but the movie is missing some details. The book has more narration than the movie. The book in my opinion feels like I am there. It draws me in more than the movie does.
In1855 Manuelito was recognized as a very powerful Chief who led the Navajo tribe to a better philosophy of education and peace. Chief Manuelito is the very last Navajo Chief and, as one of the greatest Chief’s, is significant for his leadership through the Long Walk. The Long Walk was truly an interminable and detrimental journey. Chief Manuelito was a Navajo Chief who helped carry all of his followers through the strenuous walk of three hundred fifty miles by foot, facing the conflicts of the U.S. Army forcing them out of their homeland, leading to the compromise through the treaty of Bosque Redondo. Chief Manuelito loyally stood next to his people.

The disregard for black women is an issue that is slowly becoming a topic of discussion. In addition to Malcolm X’s acknowledgement that “The most disrespected woman in America, is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America, is the black woman”, Crunktastic writes in the Crunk Feminist Collections about her experience being a black woman and being disrespected. Both Boynton and Crunktastic write pieces that encourage men to put aside their feelings of entitlement and begin to respect black women.
In John Kennedy’s Profiles in Courage, he defines political courage as one’s willingness to take action on personal ethics, even though it may trigger public criticism, retaliation, and political death. (Kennedy 7) Shirley Chisholm, the first African American Congresswoman used her voice to advocate for racial minorities, women, and the poor. Chisholm was a bold woman who wasn’t afraid to raise current social issues that many avoided talking about. On account of her strong sense of justice, she faced numerous obstacles in her years in office for doing what she believed was in the best interest for our country.
Story is an integral element in human life. Stories are the way humans have shared and learned for thousands of years. Storytelling is different from story writing. When a story is told, the original content lingers as long as the storytellers maintain that content. Once the story is retold it takes on different details and meaning.
In Black Sexual Politics, Patricia Collins also operates in a grey area. In her text, Collins defines sexual politics “as a set of ideas and social practices shaped by gender, race, and sexuality that frame all men and women’s treatment of one another” (6). Similar to Morgan, Collins also examines the interaction between men and women and how they treat each other. Both of these scholars seek a narrative that is not one-sided. Instead, they advocated ideas and beliefs that the actions of both men and women into account.
African American history is a corrective balance to the single story of American History because it exposes one to another side of history. It erases the concept that whites built America. African American history allows you to know that there is more to America than just what you learn in American History. It is not just white america because African Americans contributed a great deal to the development of america. A student who takes american history will began to believe that whites are the only people who contributed to the development of America.
The White Buffalo women was a Native American myth where she presented the Lakota people the sacred pipe the showed how all things in life are connected. She would also teach the people how to pray and how to follow the way of the earth and this was important to the Native Americans back then because they had a strong connection with nature. And also what she was really known for was when she left that she left behind lots of groups of white buffalo and that was important and big because that’s what people would mainly feed on and it would feed a whole village too. And one man said that “The arrival of the White Buffalo is like the second coming of Christ” –Floyd Hand, that’s because of all that she would give.

Chimamanda uses some very specific rhetorical techniques to try and shed light on a problem that she sees that needs to be fixed. Her Audience is the everyone of all ages, but more specifically to white Americans.
“And I looked at my dad, I looked at my mom, I looked at my dad again. You know what? I hated them. I just absolutely hated my own parents. Not because I thought they abandoned me; I hated their brown faces.
In the end, his masculinity prevented direct displays of male affection but the mutual admiration that these men shared is clear when Right said: “I know you love me, man. I love you too” (207). Mosley is concluding the portrayal of this third type of male relationship by saying that black men do not have to be overtly affectionate to show their love, care, and compassion for one
Adichie relays many stories from her childhood all the way to adulthood. These stories allow the audience to connect with Adichie on a personal level, creating pathos. For example, Adichie talks about how her college roommate was oblivious to fact that Africans speak English and listen to American pop music. This allows the audience to see the dangers of a single story from the perspective of someone affected by a single story. The anecdotes also provide ethos by establishing credibility.
How powerful is a single story? At Ted Global 2009, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a Nigerian novelist, expresses her view of single stories and the ways in which they are used to create stereotypes and divides us as a people. Adichie’s talk, “The Danger of a Single Story”, stimulates careful consideration to what happens when people and situations are reduced to a single narrative. She believes single stories are highly correlated with the power structures of the world and have the ability to strip people of their humanity.
The speech talks as well about the issue of power that is closely connected to the construction of the single story. The stories have been used to expropriate and label, but can also be used to empower and humanize. Accordingly, Adichie says, many stories matter, but we cannot know every story. However, we are
