One of the most fascinating primates are the Chimpanzees, these primates are very intelligents, complex and also one of the most social of all primates who live in communities of both sexes and all ages just like us, humans. The more that we study chimpanzees the more fascinating facts we find about their history and their way of communicating and living. Throughout history we have learned that these primates have their own “language” in which they communicate in their community. Also they seem to be a lot of similarities between chimpanzees and humans. In this essay we will cover the history of chimpanzees, their way of living, their age of first and last reproduction, gestation length, birth rate, age at weaning, age at maturity, life span, and rate of population.

And at birth a baby chimpanzee weighs about four pounds ( ). As we mentioned before infant chimpanzees depend on their mothers to learn everything in their first five years. Chimpanzees tend to nurse for about five years, and during this time their babies learn basic survival skills such as what to eat and what to avoid by just watching their mothers and other chimpanzees around ( ). Once the baby chimpanzee has learned their basic survival skills, he/she starts to become independent at an approximately age 6 ( ). ( ) states that chimpanzees are considered adults by age 15. The life span for chimpanzees is of 40 years to 50 years in the wild and over 50 years to 60 years in captivity ( ). Unfortunately chimpanzees are not as predominantly as they used to be and their population only grows at a rate of a few thousands per year ( ). As we can see the increase of their rate population is low, and if we want to keep learning from these fascinating primates we should take conscious and do something in order to conserve their species of the future generations, they deserve
