In this last article named, “Chinese-American Victims of 1906 Quake Remembered,” the author wrote and published in the Houston Chronicle newspaper in 2000, because there was an anniversary of the victims in the earthquake of California 94 years ago, and because of some eyewitness people are still alive and migrating to Houston. In the first sentence of this article, the writer apparently declared the purpose of writing this article, which is to remembering the victims died in the quake. In those victims, there were many Chinese people migrated to California in earlier years and accordingly a large number of people being killed by the earthquake. In the beginning of this article, the author has mentioned that this is the first time commemorated the Chinese Americans who died in the worst natural disasters in the America’s history. The author went on by describing the estimated victims in the quake, approximately 3,000 people, or listing 490 building blocks had been destroyed, and left 250,000 people homeless. This information proves that the author did some extend research to get the numbers on the article. Furthermore, the organization in this article is mainly about pathos appeals because the writer mostly focused on the emotions and feelings of living victims towards their loved ones. And I think this article is special because it mainly focused on the emotional response to show us that how hurt or regretful the living victims feel when remembering that terror moment.
