Vietnam wasn’t earning independence through battles. The battles were endless and it still didn’t solve anything . Vietnam had to fight against China, France, Japan and the US and throughout the battles all that was accomplished was the slow rise of Vietnamese power In the beginning when the country first appeared, it was invaded by China more than a thousand years. The most important battle in this period is the Battle of Bạch Đằng. At the Battle of Bạch Đằng River in 938, Ngô Quyền led the rebel Vietnamese forces, defeated the invading forces of the Southern Han state of China and put an end to centuries of Chinese imperial domination in Vietnam. In the first century CE, the population of the Han empire was over 57 million, while the population of Vietnam was just over 1 million. After the conquest of Nam Việt, the Han Dynasty limited sovereignty and plundered the state's treasures. By exploitation of the populace, the Han undertook a process of direct and indirect assimilation of the Nam Việt people, annexing the lands into the Han Empire. But soon after, Vietnam has been invaded again. Started from 218 BC till 1789, until now, China still have affair with Vietnam about dispute many islands.
The invasion kept going until France came and took over the country. In 1787, Nguyễn Ánh was the king of the Nguyễn dynasty. Because of his failure when the revolution happened, he has to asked for help from France. France accepted that and decided to use the Treaty of Versaille on Vietnam. In return the treaty, Nguyễn Ánh promised to cede Pulo-Condore to the French and to give a concession to the French in Tourane, as well exclusive trading rights.
