I am writing in response to your posted opening for the position of Chinese teacher in Miles River Middle School. The opportunity to teach and inspire students within your school is an exciting prospect that I am well-qualified for and able to undertake. Please allow me to explain briefly my philosophy regarding academic teaching and how I can contribute to the growth and success of students with varying needs.
To begin with, I received a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Moderate Disabilities (K-8) December 2015 from Graduate Education at Gordon College. Furthermore, I had good practice in teaching in special education for my future Chinese class. As a student teacher in a special education classroom for one year, I have been working with students with moderate disabilities from first grade to fifth grade to continue existing lesson plans as well as developing new learning plans, based on their specific needs. I also collaborated with classroom teachers to work with students in small groups. Therefore, I think I am capable to design a curriculum and deliver it in my Chinese classes.
What I uniquely bring to the position among candidates is I am fluent in Chinese and I have learned English as a second language for ten years. As a result, I know how I learned Chinese with authentic Chinese culture. In addition, as a second language learner, I have the compassion for students who are learning Chinese at school.
