I'm a Business Administration major with a concentration in management. There are many reason why I decided on management. I chose a concentration in management because it gives you the opportunity and tools to be a successful boss. The major teaches you how to both operate and manage organizations of different sizes. You learn how to establish a business. You learn how to take a new entrepreneurial thought and learn its markets and the sustainability of the idea. Penn State university describes the preparation objective of a management major as “the coordination of human, material, and financial resources to accomplish organizational goals” (Penn State). I plan on owning a business some day What made me go to college to get a degree in business administration with a concentration in management was I witnessed a lot of people in my hometown of Norristown, Pennsylvania fail with their business. Their business may have lasted for a year or two, maybe less than that, and for various reasons such as management issues, financial problems, and lack of customer base to name a few, the business wasn't stable enough to continue. I was close to choosing finance because if you are able to handle the money in your business and invest into the correct areas of your business, you can have a successful business. Finance teaches you about investments, risk assessments, portfolios, and the stock market (Jimenez). What made me choose management is the opportunity to oversee all of the areas of a business.
