The Struggle There are two types of people in this world. The rich people living their dreams and the poor people still dreaming. When money is tough and facing issues like his wife walking out on him, not having a reliable income, and eviction, Chris Gardner is being tested for his potential as a father in the movie, “The Pursuit of Happyness”. Based in San Francisco in 1981 Chris has his life savings invested in a high definition x-ray machine that is deemed unnecessary by many hospitals because it is double the price of a regular x ray machine and provides only a slightly better picture. Chris Gardner can be described as a hardworking, inspirational and motivated individual. Even though his x-ray scanners are not selling well, he still goes out every day into hospitals and try’s his hardest to make a sale in order to provide for his family. “Don’t ever let somebody tell you… you can’t do something. Not even me. All right?” (The Pursuit of Happyness) Says Chris to his five-year-old son named Christopher. This displays Chris’s motivating and inspirational attitude towards his son. His boss had forgotten his wallet in his office and Chris was down to his last eight dollars in his wallet. Without a second thought, Chris hands the boss five dollars. This goes to show how dedicated he was to getting this job. He was willing to give the boss majority of the money he had to his name, when he himself was eating at homeless shelters and walking around the city without the luxury of taxi rides. He does this favor, along with many others like bringing the boss donuts, coffee, and parking his car for him, in hope for a chance to prove himself at Deen Witter and land a job as a stock
