She is a very hard worker and saw something wrong in her school by the people who are supposed to be adults, and sought to take action. Jackson made was said to be a disruption, but you will here from Ricky Silvers who clearly expresses his observations of school following the post and that there was no significant disruption in classrooms. From the defense you will hear from Pat Wright, a close friend and colleague of defendant Morrie Powers, stating that his classroom was “disrupted” by the Me-Video. However we bear the burden to prove this was one classroom of the many at JMHS. One of the reasons Dr. Powers punished Ms. Jackson was because the MsA school district can discipline a student for off-campus misconduct but only if the student’s misconduct has a direct and immediate effect on either school discipline or the general safety and welfare of the students. Were there students harmed, threatened or put at risk because of this video? No, and Mr. Bourne can confirm that.The Defense bears the burden to prove that the off-campus production of this free speech video satisfies this prong.
