Chris Kyle: American Hero Chris Kyle was born in April 8th, 1974 in Odessa, Texas. Chris was tragically shot and killed by a military veteran with alleged mental health issues at a shooting range in the U.S. He is currently buried in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, Texas and was the son of Wayne Kyle and Deby Mercer. He was the husband of Taya Kyle, and the father of two young children. Kyle is mostly considered a modern day hero because of his bravery and marksmanship as a U.S. sniper in the military, earning him many honors and awards. Chris, who was extremely caring, daring, and tough, created a non profit foundation for wounded veterans so they could have fitness equipment and personal trainers. It was his caring heart that drove him to create this foundation, as it shows he continually maintained a love for the military and respected his veterans. They often took veterans that struggled with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) to the range as a form of therapy. Eddie Roth, who was a troubled veteran, was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2011. According to his mother and sister, he suffered from PTSD, was suicidal, abused alcohol and marijuana, and displayed psychotic behaviors. In 2014, he ultimately pleaded not guilty to the double homicide by reason of insanity, but the jury eventually found Roth guilty of murder and sentenced him to life in prison without parole. After Chris’s life on earth sadly ended on the shooting range, the news spread like wildfire. The outpouring of support to Taya and their two children was enormous. On 2/11/13, thousands of mourners attended Chris Kyle’s funeral at Texas
