Chris McCandless was a determined young man. He possessed qualities in which many people viewed as ideal qualities to have in today’s society. He was a high achiever, high motivation to succeed in life, hard working, academic intelligence, athleticism, and the ambition to do anything he puts his mind on. However at a very young age, he wanted to do things his way instead of obeying rules imposed by higher authority and had a desire to live by his own moral code. The ideas of Chris McCandless rebellious nature and his free spirited attitude helped him to fulfill his dreams which lead him to become an inspirational role model for every body around the world. Chris commented with “Hell no, How I feed myself is none of the government’s business. Fuck their stupid rules.” (Krakauer 6) It seems Chris has strong opinions about how the government is handling things and feels like his freedom or happiness is being limited by regulations. In today society, money is the only thing that matters and generally tends to come before the dreams of a person.“As for me, I’ve decided that I’m going to live this life for some time to come. The freedom and simple beauty of it is just too good to pass up.” (Krakauer 33) Chris believed that living a nomadic lifestyle and living on your own showed more strength and resilience than getting support from family or friends. Even though he had strong ties between his sister and his dog Buck, he didn’t require the intimacy of family and society members to be truly happy in the wild. At times it seem like he welcome the quiet atmosphere with open arms rather than remember the noise produced by society. “One hundred twenty-three dollars in legal tender was promptly reduced to ash and smoke.” (Krakauer 29) All the money he had on his trip to the Gulf of California was burned because he no longer
