This paper is all about “Christian fundamentalism” under the title of “Christian fundamentalism in USA during Bush Administration”. This paper has focused on Christian fundamentalism and its emergence, what is Christian fundamentalism, what changes bring in Bush administration and what they don’t believe at all.
Introduction:
Christian fundamentalism began in the late 19th and early 20th centuries among British and American Protestants as a response to theological liberalism and cultural modernism. Fundamentalists claimed that 19th-century modernist theologians had misinterpreted or discarded certain doctrines, especially biblical inerrancy, that they viewed as the fundamentals of the Christian confidence. A few scholars consider Catholicism who discards modern theology in favor of more conventional doctrines as fundamentalists. Fundamentalist Christians classically consider that the Bible is inspired by God and is inerrant. They refuse modern analysis of the Bible as a historical document in black and white by authors. They were trying to encourage their own evolving spiritual beliefs. Rather, they view the bible as the Word of God, internally reliable, and free of mistake.
In the U.S., the Fundamentalist-led Moral Majority emerged to confront social and religious attitude and practices. Today, Fundamentalists are the most verbal group, on a per-capital basis. They oppose abortion access, equal rights for homosexuals, same-sex marriage, protection for homosexuals from hate crimes, physician assisted suicide, the use of embryonic stem cells for medical study, inclusive sex-ed course in public schools, etc (“The term fundamentalism in Christianity and Islam,” n.d.)
