The mission of Jesuit High School as a Catholic college preparatory school is to develop in its students the competence, conscience, and compassion to become men of faith and men for others. This mission is achieved by ensuring that students are open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice. During my time at Jesuit I have become more religious and committed to doing justice, but I need improvement on being more loving. The most notable attribute of Jesuit is its devotion to the Catholic faith. Spirituality and holiness consume the atmosphere and purpose of daily functions. Jesuit teaches students to love yourself, family, friends, classmates, other cultures, and most of all God. I am more appreciative of my life for the blessing that it is and better express my affection for my family. (wording is a little confusing) Appreciating my classmates that both help and hinder my advancement into adulthood is an aspect of love. My theology classes taught me about the necessity of loving the poor and needy that have no one to love them. Additionally, love is about gaining control of one’s immature sexual desires and keeping that blessing sacred. I have also learned to love myself and accept my flaws. However, the most important element of love is about being dedicated and faithful to God, who gave me everything. I need to work on my love because I easily get frustrated with myself, family, the helpless, classmates, and God. The most important thing is to understand that if God can love everyone and everything, then it is possible for us to love others.
