Slavery was a key issue in the Civil War and still remember as a tragic part of our country as well as many other countries' histories. It is still a topic discussed today. This begs the question, what is the Christian response to the slavery that occurred in the U.S.?

In Biblical times, slavery occurred and is mentioned my times in the Bible. There was of course people who sold others into slavery like Joseph's brothers sold him. They were meant to be treated like family and were allowed to leave after 7 years of work under most circumstances.
