Research information is more easily accessible online, and the use of hardback books are becoming less common. Third, technology is transforming how businesses operate. Businesses are now turning to texts and emails to improve the frequency of communication. Meeting in person is now becoming less common as quick emails or texts are quicker and more convenient. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, “By 2030, millennials will make up 75% of the workforce.” Moreover, the author argues that these changes are having an impact on society. However, technology is much too complex to identify it as being positive or negative. Yet, Dr. Mitchell claims that most of society values speed and efficiency over the alternative. These values are a major influence on the impact technology will have. Additionally, the author also recommends making educated decisions regarding the use of technology. Despite all this, the technological advancements have had a major impact on the overall population. We all have witnessed the rapid growth of technology and observed these changes are having an impact on people. The author offers other opposing arguments that contributed to his article, such as technology being value neutral. While, the author argues with this perspective, claiming that technology has become far more complex to identify as strictly positive or negative, the opposing perspectives offer the readers other perspectives on the subject. Dr. Mitchell also engaged others who believe in “dataism” or interested in how this has become a universal religion for many people.
