Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens in 1843 where there was a lot of poverty in England. Charles was poor growing up so his dad got sent to prison and Charles got sent to a workhouse. This is a story about a man that changes personalities in a little time. Charles wrote the Christmas Carol to show people to be kind and give to all people no matter what and to also treat the poor as equal.
One out of every seven people in America live under the poverty line. Even though the Christmas Carol is fictional novella it still illustrates examples of poverty, its effects and what can be done to stop it. Throughout the Christmas Carol different characters who either live in poverty, or are ignorant of it completely. This is a Scenario is applicable to real life. Many people believe that poverty is the fault or problem of those afflicted by it.
The novel “A Christmas Carol and the play “A Christmas Carol” produced by the Hartford Stage had similarities and differences. A resemblance was the Ghost of Christmas Present’s, the physical appearance was perfectly portrayed, it was stated in the novel, “It was in one simple deep green robe, or mantle, bordered with white fur… and on its head it wore no other covering than holly wreath set here and there with shining icicles. Its dark brown curls were long and free.” In the play, the clothes was impeccably exemplary , even the holy wreath with icicles was shown identical according to the text.
