Once upon a time, a Grinch had stolen christmas from the town of Whoville. The Grinch stole christmas to make the town suffer, but the Grinch found out maybe he misinterpreted Christmas. The Grinch thought Christmas just meant giving presents to each other and singing songs, so he decided to steal the presents and throw them into the abyss. At dawn the Grinch expects to hear the cries to Whoville, but The Grinch hear singing(Seuss). The Grinch figures out maybe Christmas does not mean just giving presents and feasting, maybe Christmas means spending time with family.
The most influential spirit was the spirit of Christmas future in A Christmas Carol. he used fear to make scrooge understand that there was still time to change his act. Once his old partner, Jacob Marley, told him that there was still hope for him, scrooge was haunted by three other spirits. Christmas past, Christmas present, and Christmas future.
In the movie and play A Christmas Carol Ebeneezer Scrooge discovers how his actions now could affect the afterlife. Both of these formats have many similarities, like how all the ghosts of Christmas are described and seen in the same way. Both have the Ghost of Christmas Past very bright, a woman, and held holly. The Ghost of Christmas Present is wearing a large green robe, very tall and mighty figure, and wears a beard. The Ghost of Christmas Future is black, frightening, and has bony fingers.
”Scrooge changes from these traits through his experience with the ghost of the past,present,and future. When the ghost of Christmas past visits Scrooge,it shows that on pg.31 and pg.32,where talking about his past and how he should change the way he acts and saying
Just as Ebenezer Scrooge’s personality changes throughout A Christmas Carol, so too does his viewpoint on the true meaning of Christmas. Scrooge goes through a pretty traumatizing experience when the spirits show him many new revelations, so he is very happy to find himself alive and well on Christmas day by saying, “I will live in the past, the present, and the future!...the spirits of all three shall strive within me” (109). What Scrooge means by this is that he will always remember what the spirits have taught him and that he will make sure to create a positive outcome based on these events. Scrooge has definitely changed for the better and is going to make sure everyone understands this.
To finish it off the Ghost of Christmas Future silently shows Scrooge his own grave, and has him interpret his death. The ghost is described as a non-speaking grim reaper, and symbolically represents that Scrooge’s death will be silent, and he will not be able to explain his choices to others. They will just be forced to make their own
He wanted to warn him that if he didn’t clean up his act he was going to end up dead and in chains like him. When the ghost of Christmas future comes it shows that Scrooge is dead giving him further warning. Then the story goes on to say, "that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellowmen, and travel far and wide; and if that spirit goes not forth in life, it is condemned to do so after death. It is doomed to wander through the world -- oh, woe is me! -- and witness what it cannot share, but might have shared on earth, and turned to happiness!"
The Ghost of Christmas Future changes Ebenezer Scrooge way of seeing things, fear and perspective made regret rise in Scrooge’s mind; Regret can be a slap in the face when it comes to thinking that phrase “If only…” , but after reflecting this amazing story, you come to understand that, that annoying phrase could be replaced with the actions you do to resolve what you have done. Even though regretting is not the most satisfying feeling, people will always learn something from it, after all that journey of regrets is worth it.
The ghost of Christmas future shows Scrooge what happens after his possible death, and 3 people are seen selling his items that he needed to live and rest. One of the 3 people say ‘he died with no one by his side’ which leads to the fact that Scrooge loves nobody but his coin. The ghost lets Scrooge also see that Tiny Tim has died, significantly telling Scrooge that he has to change or he will die and so will Tiny Tim. However, Scrooge decides to change his ways once and for all, and he finally pledges to be a kind man to others, with no potential signs of threat or vile manners. The whole point of the spirit’s visit was to use the final blow on Scrooge’s Arctic organs and give him a few more scenarios of what happens in the possible future.
The ghost of Christmas past, present, and future(Dickens 9,10). As Marly leaves and the ghost of christmas past comes, Scrooge at first is very frightened. The ghost then tells scrooge to touch her robe and they magically travel to the old past when they see Scrooge as a young school boy where they can see how Ebenezer’s father really hated him because his wife died giving birth to him. Now Scrooge’s dad blames him for it(Dickens 13,14,15). The spirit next takes him to his teenage years where scrooge sees himself as a young happy and poor boy at a dance party with his long time girlfriend.
After Marley warns him not to end up like himself, and informs him that he will be visited by three ghosts, the first ghost arrives in Scrooge’s home. This is the the Ghost of Christmas Past. The spirit is dressed in a bright white tunic and is holding branch of luscious green holly. The ghost shows him scenes from when he was younger. These scenes make a massive impact on Scrooge.
Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol, changes throughout the course of the story by the influences of the visits of the three spirits, whom were guided by the theme of compassion. The first of the three spirits, the ghost of Christmas Past, a peculiar but beautiful being representing memories, whom showed Scrooge who he was before money had blinded him. “ ‘It isn 't that,’ said Scrooge, heated by the remark, and speaking unconsciously like his former, not his latter, self. ‘It isn 't that, Spirit.
He is ready to take on what the Spirit has for him because he knows that is the only way he will become a better man. The Ghost of Christmas Future takes Scrooge to different moments in the future, where a rich man died and no one cares about it. The Spirit then takes Scrooge to the man’s headstone, where he sees that his name is on it and realizes that he is the cold-hearted man who no one cared about. He then says, “ ‘Assure me that I yet may change these shadows you shown me, by an altered life’ ” (Dickens 18).
In the play A Christmas Carol Mr scrooge is visited by jacob marley, his old but dead partner. He tells scrooge to get his act up or he will turn out to be like him. He marley told he would be visited by three ghost.(Dickens 8) When the clock strikes he is visited by the ghost of christmas past he shows scrooge his past from when he was a little boy to when he was an apprentice at a warehouse. Where he meet his first love.
Scrooge has started to really understand what he has done wrong in his life and how selfish and mean he really is . The ghost of Christmas Yet to Come shows Scrooge his future and how the people don’t care that Scrooge dies “If there is any person in the town, who feels emotion caused by this man’s death,” said Scrooge quite agonised, “show that person to me, Spirit, I beseech you” ( Dickens 11 ). Scrooge is seeing how people treat him when he is dead but Scrooge has no clue they are talking about him. Scrooge is showed the future but Scrooge thinks he has already changed completely because he has no idea that the person the men are talking about is him. Scrooge is changing fast but he has not seen the shadows that have not happened but will happen soon "You are about to show me shadows of the things that have not happened, but will happen in the time before us," Scrooge pursued.
