The article, “Shopping Trumps Turkey”, by Gregory Karp, argues between whether or not retailers should initiate Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving day. Karp considers that retailers should not commence the sales a day earlier. I agree with the author, due to the fact that the retailers that begin the sales on Thanksgiving day are careless and greedy, along with commanding people to not spend time with their families. Clearly, retailers should not release Black Friday sales a day earlier. To start off, experts say that the saying of retailers opening because the consumers are asking them to is false.

In the short story “Doing the Right Thing”, the main character, Kwe, holds an outsider status from the members of the firearms course as she is Indigenous. Due to her different status from the individuals in the firearms course, she can expose the hypocrisy of others through the stories that are told, the beliefs of others, and the lessons others try to teach. To begin, Big Chief, the firearm course instructor, begins the course by retelling a story about his best friend and when they were younger. The two of them were out hunting and the friend accidentally kills one of the nearby farmer's hens. As Kwe describes this story she ends it by saying that “The moral of the story is that you have to respect the people whose land you are hunting on” (28).

Beneficiaries called to ask me if I wanted to perform community service at a cathedral in Dallas, TX. I agreed because I like to volunteer in any event when it is needed. This event was called “Feed the Hunger,” which I signed up for and looked forward to because of my desire to lend a hand and assist the needy and unfortunate. At first, I thought this event was just one of those other community service opportunities that I am usually called to facilitate and volunteer my time.
