Image A depicts Christopher Johnson looking out of the window in one of the MNU vehicles, he is being held captive and against his will. Image B depicts Nelson Mandela looking out of the window in his jail cell, where he was held against his will for many years for standing up for his beliefs. Both images are eye-level shots which put the viewer on the same level as Christopher Johnson and Nelson Mandela, this is effective because we feel sorry for them, and we sympathise for them. Christopher Johnson is an alien who wants more for his life and wants to go home to his planet, where he won’t be discriminated against for being an alien. Image B is an eye-level shot that empowers Christopher Johnson and Wikus van de Merwe as they are about to break into the MNU laboratory to steal the chemicals, to start the spaceship. Image A shows the blacks taking action against their government, Image B shows Wikus (half alien at this stage) and Christopher Johnson (representing the alien race) taking action against MNU. Image A has a large force of black people as a larger force increases the chance of having a successful riot or demonstration, Christopher Johnson represents the “large force” and clearly shows how large forces of determined people/aliens can make a difference, and ca invariably achieve what they hope to achieve in terms of overthrowing the
