After listening to the presentation on the background of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the author of Chronicle of A Death Foretold, I was finally able to understand how he was able to piece together this confusing, yet interesting story. For instance, when I first read this book, I was very puzzled, and unsure of what was happening; however, now that I know that Marquez grew up listening to his family’s tales, military reminiscences, tales of the fantastic, and the daring adventures of his parents, the fact that this story is so fictional, and all over the place, finally fits the puzzle.
