Charles Edward Anderson Berry also known as Chuck Berry was born October 18th, 1926 and passed away in March 18th, 2017. He was an American musician, songwriter, and singer who helped pioneer rock and roll. He was also very good at incorporating rhythm and blues into rock and roll which is what made him stand out from other rock and roll artists. Chuck had always had an interest in music and did his first performance in public at Summer High School. While in high school Chuck was not a perfect guy and committed a crime that would end up letting him serve three years at reformatory. Since 1970 they have also been known as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. In 1960 the group that was known as the Four lovers evolved into the Four Seasons. Who had Frankie Valli as the lead vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals, Bob Gaudio on tenor vocals and keyboards, and Nick Massi on electric bass and bass vocals. The legal name of their organization is The Four Seasons Partnership, that was formed by Gaudio and Valli which was taken after a failed audition in 1960. Gaudio and Valli each own fifty percent of the act and its assets, including virtually all of its recording catalog. As for live performances, Gaudio does not play live anymore, which leaves Valli the only member of the group from its inception who is touring as of 2017. Before the Four Seasons Valli’s first commercial release was “My Mother’s Eyes” in 1953. The year after that Valli and DeVito (the guitarist) formed The Variatones. That band had Hank Majewski on rhythm guitar, Billy Thompson on drums, and Frank Cattone on accordion. Inbetween 1954 and 1956 they performed and recorded under a variety of names but eventually they settled on the name The Four Seasons. From 1956 up until 1958 the group had stayed together, performing in lounges and clubs under the name The Four Lovers along with recording on various record labels with names: Frankie Valley and the Travelers, Frankie Valley, the Village Voices. In 1959 the group started working with the songwriter/producer Bob Crewe, where they primarily did session work. Later that year the Four Lovers were performing in Baltimore on the same stage as the Royal Teens, The Royal Teens were currently riding on their success of “Short Shorts”. That song which was co-written by the then 15-year-old Bob Gaudio, who was also the Royal Teen’s keyboardist. Gaudio was then added to the Four
